Fat Joe and Big Pun trade bars over Wu-Tang Clan’s essential “Ice Cream” instrumental. Back then, it was like a rite of passage for rappers to kick a freestyle over beats like this that best showcased their skills. Funkmaster Flex’s 60 Minutes Of Funk series and tapes like it were probably a legal nightmare clearing all of the samples used, but the final result was often a well-paced smorgasbord full of exclusives like this one.
Fat Joe is back with his The Darkside 3 mixtape and from that, we get Action Bronson over a Primo beat. Dope.
Big Pun and Fat Joe sit down with Bobbito and Stretch at Hot97 back in May of 1997. Respect to @UPNORTHTRIPS for sharing with the world and shoutout to @theKarlieHustle at Hot97 just because!
A lot of people don’t remember that Fat Joe had a whole rap career prior to discovering Big Punisher and becoming the guy responsible for “Lean Back” and all of that. In the early 90’s Joe used to run with the likes of Brand Nubian and The Beatnuts and was also a member of D.I.T.C. along with Big L.
